In 2013 the BID published a guide to shopping, dining, and services in the district. The guide was distributed throughout the many tourist information centers of all five boroughs.
Since 2002, the BID has used street pole banners to delineate the district boundaries and brighten the streetscape. Our banners are placed all along the retail corridor for thousands of shoppers to see everyday. The 2016 Banner Program allows businesses an opportunity to boost their marketing and promotion efforts by sponsoring a banner. Each sponsorship will display your logo on both sides of our 8′ by 3′ street banner. The cost to sponsor a banner for one calendar year is just $250. If you are interested in sponsoring a banner please contact Daniel Murphy @ 718.922.9600 or via email firstname.lastname@example.org.
To maintain and enhance economic activity on Pitkin Avenue, the BID has made a commitment to beautify the area streetscape. To that end, a significant portion of the organization’s budget is designated for community beautification to make the streets and sidewalks of the district more attractive. BID-sponsored projects included:
The BID has ordered and will place more than 40 custom-designed trash receptacles on many district street corners, replacing often battered wire municipal baskets. These durable bronze receptacles emblazoned with the BID’s distinctive logo will make an immediate impact on the area and serve the additional purpose of defining the district’s boundaries.
Additionally, local and national merchants will have an opportunity to rent space on the receptacles for advertising.
Each holiday season, the BID installs lighting throughout the district.
The Pitkin Avenue BID works with the 73rd precinct – as well the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office, and other relevant agencies, to provide the highest level of service to the community.
The Pitkin Avenue BIS has partnered with Atlantic Maintenance to provide sanitation services for all our district’s sidewalks. Atlantic Maintenance has over 30 years of sanitation experience. Streets are cleaned twice a day five days a week.
The BID also utilizes the service of Xclusive Power wash for graffiti removal and facade cleaning.
