The late Ms. Patricia Reid Deans was one of Brownsvilles most active residents. Involving herself in many organizations, Deans was active in the National Association for the Study of African-American Life and History as well as the Multicultural Committee for District 23 to name a few. Deans possessed a strong desire to improve the quality of life in urban and rural environments. After find the Brownsville Heritage House in 1992, Deans hoped to see the Brownsville Heritage House become a cultural center to Brooklyn, much like the Schomburg Center in Harlem. Deans took on many roles at the Heritage House including the Chairperson of the Board, Curator and Researcher of Heritage House.
