The Renaissance Program provides matching grants to businesses on Pitkin Avenue between Howard Avenue and Mother Gaston Boulevard to help finance improvements to building facades, storefronts, commercial spaces and residential units. Property and business owners within the program area may apply for reimbursement of up to 75% of total project cost*. Eligible improvements, include: masonry restoration, window replacement, cornice repair, and new lighting, signs, awnings, and security gates.
Funding for the Renaissance Program comes from the State of New York’s Main Street Program. The Pitkin Avenue BID was awarded the grant in December of 2016 and is now accepting project applications. Those wishing to apply must agree to follow the BID’s Design Guidelines and Sign Code and are subject to review by the BID’s Project Selection Committee.
*Up to $50,000 per commercial space with an additional $25,000 per residential unit with a per building maximum of $100,000.
