Festival of Flags 2024
Our Festival of Flags was a vibrant and joyous celebration, bringing together our community for a day filled with creativity, music, and delicious food. The event had an amazing turnout, with kids and adults alike engaging in fun activities like mask making and face painting.
The beats were truly irresistible, as everyone danced and celebrated together, moving to the rhythm of the music. The atmosphere was electric, with the sound of laughter and the sight of smiling faces everywhere. Our stilt walkers added an extra layer of excitement, roaming around and captivating the crowd.
It was wonderful to see our community come together, not just for the festivities, but also to support and celebrate with the amazing community organizations that were present.
A big thank you to everyone who joined in the fun and laughter! Your participation and enthusiasm made the event truly special.
Special thanks to our Council Member, Darlene Mealy, for her support. We are also grateful to our Community Partners for their incredible contributions

Pitkin Pups Day
On Saturday, August 3rd, we hosted Pitkin Pups Day, a fantastic community event that brought together Brownsville's dog lovers for a day of fun, education, and community bonding. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of using dog way stations to keep our sidewalks clean and accessible.
Event Highlights:
Free Dog Treats: Our furry friends enjoyed delicious treats throughout the day.
Cooling Station: Mini pools were set up to help dogs stay refreshed and cool under the summer sun.
Photo Opportunities: Pet owners captured memorable moments with their pets,
Free Dog Waste Bags: We provided free poop bags to encourage responsible pet ownership and the proper use of dog way stations. Learn more about our dog waste stations here
Pitkin Pups Day was a paw-some success. We’re thrilled to have had the opportunity to promote cleaner, safer sidewalks for everyone in Brownsville.
Stay tuned for more exciting events, and thank you to everyone who participated in making this day so special!
Based on the Brownsville Commercial District Needs Assessment (CDNA) recommendation, the Pitkin Avenue BID started the Storefront for Brownsville Initiative. Some of the storefronts were vacant properties while others are in outdoor spaces like Zion Triangle, allowing local entrepreneurs and service providers to showcase their goods and services.
